Biography

Joan Garvan was awarded a doctorate in 2010 her thesis: Maternal Ambivalence in contemporary Australia: Navigating equity and care available to view at www.maternalhealthandwellbeing.com She has offered online professional development courses and webinars and continues to work as an advocate for improved early years health and welfare services with Maternal Health Matters. Joan was a founding member of Maternal Scholars Australia (formerly Australian Motherhood Initiative for Research and Community Involvement (AMIRCI)) and has presented papers at conferences in Australia, New York, Toronto, and Florence.
